Packed with playful and energising activities, this course is a great opportunity to learn how to act with masks and improvise with confidence.
COURSE CONTENT:
● Warm-Up: A series of playful warming-up exercises to ‘awaken’ our body and our senses. This fundamental preparation before getting into mask work integrates stretching, breathing, voice work, balance, rhythm and coordination.
●Masks: An exploration of physical approaches to characterisation utilising the codified language of Commedia dell’Arte: Masks' driving forces, postures, gestures, walks and voices. We will explore the Servants, The Masters, the Captains and the Lovers.
●Techniques: Techniques studied will comprise body awareness, physical and vocal transformation, slapstick, body-voice connection, comic timing, improvisation and audience interaction.
● Creative Exploration: Commedia dell'Arte's techniques and characters will be utilised to develop our own characters and stories, taking inspiration from contemporary personalities and current affairs.
